Vancouver day 2

What a day! We are exhausted! We hired a couple of bikes with a cart for Luke on the back of my bike. We cycled around the sea wall of Stanley Park which offered lovely cityscape views of Vancouver; a city almost entirely colour coordinated with turquoise and grey, even the bridges and skyscrapers. We stopped at Granville Island (a man-made island full of studios, crafts, markets and foodie food places) for some gourmet hotdogs, and luke had a splash in the free water park.

We discovered a beach with rows of gigantic logs to sit on, and realised it was our only chance to sit on a beach for this entire holiday. The sun came out so we had a paddle in the sea and collected purple oyster shells. After 6 hours cycling we returned the bikes and went for a long walk through the busy city to soak up the culture.

John and I agreed that the quality of life seems to be very good here, the city is made for the people, business is thriving, the transport links are great, cycle lanes throughout, people look healthy and happy and there are so many activities and variety. The city is crowded but you have the serenity of the wilderness a walk away. Within the city it's mostly young people and high flying business people but in the parks there are swarms of happy kids.

We found a Tesla showroom on our walk home, it has a boot in the front, a "frunk" and 2 extra seats full size seats in the boot. The legroom is ridiculous and the whole car is powered by a couple of small cylinders. A giant touch screen is what controls the functions of the car, and at night you just plug it into your power socket. It's crazy and I want one.

A good day. Time to put our feet up. I don't think we'll make it past 9. Tomorrow we have a 6-7hour drive east to Revelstoke as we head to the rockies.
