It's overwhelming, the sight, it almost looks like a painted backdrop. We stopped at Sedona on the way to see some beautiful orange rock formations. You then drive for an hour through uninteresting forest land to get to the Grand Canyon, you can't see a thing in the distance. You only catch sight of the canyon when you are literally right next to the edge. It comes out of nowhere. The height of it is scary when you peer over the edge.
We walked 4 miles along the rim then decided to get the shuttle back to our lodge as we were all getting sunburnt.
We watched an I-max movie which showed us the amazing views from the bottom of the canyon, the hidden caves and the white water rafting. Looks like serious fun, but not with a 3 year old! When we walked out of the theatre the skies had erupted. I drove for 2 hours through torrential rain and thunder towards Las Vegas.
We stopped at Hoover Dam on the way and were checked by military personnel before entering. There was a "report suspicious activity to the police" sign which we thought was funny. The dam was massive.
We arrived at our final destination, Trump International hotel Las Vegas. Talk about saving the best until last!
